With so much negativity around GP's and appointments I felt it necessary to comment on my experience. I had hurt my back which resulted in not being able to walk and attend the surgery. I phoned and spoke to a lovely lady on reception who was very understanding and sympathetic, and booked me in for a telephone appointment. Dr Anderson phoned me and we discussed the nature of my condition and how it happened. She quite rightly advised me on how I could help myself avoid the occurrences of such issues eg increased exercise. This was not done in a 'telling off' manner but in a helpful and supportive way. She also discussed medication options and arranged for a prescription to be taken to the chemist so that I could arrange pickup. I can't thank both ladies enough for their contribution to the service I received. Thankfully I am not a regular attender at my GP and you only seem to hear the negative feedback, particularly at a time of high political activity, so I think it's about time we started highlighting the amazing work our GP's do, and not forgetting the admin staff that support them. Thank you.

My appointment was for 9.05am this morning for a routine blood test, I was seen quickly and professionally by a practice nurse Nicky Nelson. I have been registered with The Family Practice for 4 years and I can honestly say that I have always been cared for very well.

Nicky Nelson took a blood sample. Quick, efficient, and it did not hurt. Though I did not look as I am a bit squeamish!

If you need blood taken Nicky Nelson (phlebotomist) is always smiling and gets the job done without any problems and without a fuss.
